Southend Community Safety Unit aims to promote public confidence by developing a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors of the Borough. Southend CCTV team forms a central part of the Community Safety Unit.

CCTV in Southend is monitored 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. There are 166 cameras that are strategically placed around the Borough to support the prevention and detection of crime and to reduce the fear of crime. Furthermore a number of mobile cameras are able to be deployed at short notice specific to need and intelligence received.

Southend CCTV is also connected to the town link radio scheme and is in constant communication with local police units and police headquarters at Chelmsford.
